So anyone have any opinions about the earthquake that shocked even jesus himself?

Bush, Clinton and Obama seem to have teamed up. Does this mean that they are the same scum? I say yes.

Y'know, Martin Luther King ate breakfast.  Hitler ate breakfast.  Does that mean they are the same scum?  Yes.

That was a joke. This topic is about Haiti.

But while we're at it... that means you're the same scum along with them! I on the other hand tend to skip breakfast.

My dad thinks it's stupid that Bush told America to send money instead of food and blankets.

It makes sense. Traditionally, when we give blankets to impoverished people, they are infected with smallpox.

Do you have a better idea for a way to use a smallpox blanket?

Taking some figures off of wikipedia...

Haitian Interior Minister believes that up to 200,000 have died as a result of the disaster,[3] exceeding earlier Red Cross estimates of 45,000–50,000.[8] Several prominent public figures are among the dead. The Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive recently announced that over 70,000 bodies have been buried in mass graves.[9]

Their white-house. I believe it is on all their paper bills... I have their 25 gourde bill and have seen others.

At a local grocery store they have some give to haiti thing...
...I ain't giving anything, considering my not so good financial situation.
But, have you guys seen such fundraisers and stuff around?

some more news clippings...

The staggering scope of Haiti's nightmare came into sharper focus Monday as authorities estimated 200,000 dead and 1.5 million homeless in the quake-ravaged heart of this tragic land, where injured survivors still died in the streets, doctors pleaded for help and looters slashed at one another in the rubble.

...

If accurate, that would make Haiti's catastrophe about as deadly as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, which killed an estimated 230,000 people in a dozen countries.

...

European Commission analysts estimate 250,000 were injured and 1.5 million were made homeless. Masses are living under plastic sheets in makeshift camps and in dust-covered automobiles, or had taken to the road seeking out relatives in the safer countryside.

I make shit for pay and I still find time and money to give. What's your excuse? Or are you just a greedy bastard that likes to complain about problems rather than help them?

I literally have only $4.00 to my name, or I might send monies.

My Dad might be going down this week with the Army, though, to build stuffz (he built the Tim Horton's and the Wendy's in the Kandahar Military Base).

I don't make shit. Yeah. Howabout that. On top of that I do not know how I will pay for my thesis... fucken thing is six credits.

This might sound sick but I prefer to talk about the stuff than to actually do something about them.
I ain't complaining about this haiti stuff. If anything, the sick thing on my part was that I was messing around, making jokes at the presidents. =P

One is an incompetent dickwad, another is a blatant adulterer, although a man who did great things for the US.

Nothing wrong with saying something about it. However, I do believe that if there's any way to help others, however small, it's worth doing. Hell, I help strangers on the street if they need it. I carried some dude to his car once because he fucked up his ankle on some steps.

Who would have thought one of the three great assholes of the old Squidi forums would turn out to be such a frighteningly nice guy? Crazy.

I'm not giving anything to Haiti, just because I'm too desensitized and it's too far away for me to really comprehend what's going on. No amount of pictures or coverage will change my mind. I can't care about impersonal things. It would be different if I talked to a Haitian I think. I blame World Vision for making me apathetic.

Black - helping others is one thing. But helping them so far away is another. Kinda different, imo...

In other news, haiti's really screwed...

Quote
The most powerful aftershock yet struck Haiti on Wednesday, shaking more rubble from damaged buildings and sending screaming people running into the streets eight days after the country's capital was devastated by an apocalyptic quake.

The magnitude-6.1 temblor was the largest of more than 40 significant aftershocks that have followed the Jan. 12 quake. The extent of additional damage or injuries was not immediately clear.
