I hate the anime art style. I love Japanese sequencing techniques a la Samurai Jack, but the art just bugs the crap out of me, in pretty much every anime I've ever seen. I'm neutral as far as manga though.

I didn't watch that.
I mean, there are some things that are okay. I watched the beginning of Princess Monoke (or something like that) and found myself being really interested in it, especially since the protagonist was riding a stag of some sort. I liked some parts of Inuyasha as well (but really, Inuyasha is Dragonball Z for girls so... no). But as a general rule, anime plots are asanine, the art style is not pleasing to watch, the sequencing is tedious and the voices are obnoxious. 4/5 animes I see have all these traits. The fifth one is usually really good though.
And I do realize that anime is essentially just an art style, but you have to admit that there s a culture that has sprung up from this art style and different artists and producers copy styles from each other that are not related to the pure art itself. The ones that are unique (Chugworth Academy, Samurai Jack) are the ones that are good. The vast majority is crap.
