Random haikus/other poetry/random writings.

Here is a set of haikus that go together to make a little story. Sorry that it sucks, I know that probably no one checks this stuff anyways.

"I planted a seed"

Digging in the soil.
Mud wedged in my finger nails.
The seed was planted.

Tending to the seed.
Water and sun sprinkled down.
A sapling peeked out.

The years crawled away.
Finally! Spring birthed a tree.
The fruit was rotten.

It could be much worse.
Not a bad first go at it.
Don't give up yet, Blake!

The most important thing about haikus was something I read in Kerouac's Dharma Bums about how a good haiku uses a small amount of words to convey a vivid image to whoever is reading it. I tried to preserve that idea here.

The idea is sound,
packing lots into little.
But that's verse for ya.

I'm no expert, but if I recall, Haikus are used to express brief, pure ideas rather than tell a story. That's why I would say your last Haiku is the best one; it shares an experience rather than trying to explain an action. Or, if I were to follow in Ruskin's footsteps...

A single moment
cut away both words and form
let beauty remain.

Play more Kingdom of Loathing
for haiku practice.

Is that game still unfinished? I might come back if they've added more.

When I stopped playing,
the quest was finished, and yet
still, the game did grow.

Lots of things to do
and lots of jokes I am sure.
Still, I don't play now.

Haikus are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
